Just read a great post from Mark Ury's Restless mind Blog.
"Summary: time determines the success of systems
more than any other factor. This can be maddening for strategists and
designers slaving away at product, service, hardware, and software
ecosystems."
I've been thinking about time as it has applied to my own business circumstances too. Back in 1999 I started an online business in the holiday accommodation sector (bookabach). Not because I had any great desire to be in that sector but because I had a vision for a product that would solve a problem - how to easily find a holiday property with out having to make tons of phone calls and waste time.
Shortly after I started the business I joined forces with the main competition (I was horrified that someone else had had the same idea). Pete became a great friend and over the next few years we set about realising our vision for Bookabach - which was simple - make a system that people loved - it didn't matter about the category or the money.
